Michael Wheelis, MD

Dr. Michael Wheelis, a graduate of Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, and is a Fellow with the American College of Emergency Physicians.
During his more than 30 years of work in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Wheelis has served many roles including Emergency Department Medical Director, Regional Medical Director, and a practicing Emergency Physician for various emergency medicine physician groups. Additionally, Dr. Wheelis has served as Vice President of a national healthcare company, as well as educational director for several regional Hospitals and healthcare companies. Through instructional teleconferences as well as individual direct education, he assists physician and mid-level providers with documentation improvement and compliance with the ever changing CMS regulations and requirements.
Dr. Wheelis holds active memberships in the American College of Emergency Physicians, American College of Physicians, American Association of Physician Specialists, Southern Medical Association, Orleans Parish Medical Society Board Member and President Elect, as well as voting delegate to the Louisiana State Medical Society. He has also served as clinical educator for both Tulane University School of Medicine and William Carey Medical University.
Dr. Wheelis enjoys several hobbies including international and domestic travel, medical mission work, oenology, and reading. Dr. Wheelis currently resides in both Savannah, Georgia and New Orleans, Louisiana.
