Excellence in rural healthcare – best describes Dr. Cory Ryan, OPYS Regional Medical Officer. For more than a decade, Dr. Ryan has been working in Emergency Medicine. Attending Bellarmine University, Dr. Ryan would receive his Bachelor’s degree, and later enter Medical School. After attending the University of Louisville Medical School, Dr. Ryan would continue on there to complete his residency training.
Thought his early years of practice, Dr. Ryan has worked throughout Southeast and Eastern Kentucky.as ER Medical Director, an Emergency Physician. Presently, Dr. Ryan is serving as the Chief Medical Officer at Wayne County Hospital in Monticello Kentucky where he works as Hospitalist and ER Medical Director. He currently also serves as Medical Director for Wayne County EMS.
Dr. Ryan is from Monticello Kentucky and prides himself on providing the best medical service possible for the people of Southeast and Eastern Kentucky. In so doing, Dr. Ryan has grown a now very large emergency and hospitalist practice, in addition to his hospice, and EMS practice. Dr. Ryan has proven to be an integral part of the rural Kentucky healthcare community. He is deeply committed to developing learned best practice models for rural hospitals – utilizing his empathic and evidenced based approach to value driven patient care.
When not practicing, Dr. Ryan enjoys family – whether on the lake, or coaching his kids. Dr. Ryan has been married for 20 years to his wife Twila and they have three boys; Camden, Carson, and Chapman.
